Vusa Mkhaya

Article-VusaMkhayaVusa Mkhaya was born on 19 October 1974 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second largest city. It is from here that he was introduced to Imbube early and fell in love with it. Imbube was made popular by South Africa's Ladysmith Black Mambazo and was introduced to the world through Paul Simon's world acclaimed Graceland album.

In 1992 Vusa joined Insingizi (acapella school act) and began performing professionally in schools, community halls and festivals. He says: "It was magic. I had replaced one of the member who left the group and we sang like we depended on it. We were invited to state functions like Independence celebrations and meeting the president. We were then slowly gaining acceptance. And we sang acapella songs to perfection and roared like the big men in mines. It was Imbube time!"

Now the long awaited Vusa`s Debut Solo CD has arrived.. The Spirit Of Ubuntu is the title and it carries messages of hope, peace, forgiveness and humanity. This 8 track Album that was produced by Roland Guggenbichler and published by Mkhaya Music Productions is a masterpiece. The accompanying musicians are top noch and no wonder why Vusa describes them in the liner notes as his dream team.
